• LIGHT-WEIGHT OCULAR PROSTHESIS---

• A Special way to Treat for a Special patient...

• Patient, those who are wearing ocular prosthesis or artificial eye and those who are thinking to move to it, they should know that, for a better cosmesis, an Ocularist is not only one way. Patient should depends upon the Oculo-plastic surgeon also.

• What exactly Oculo-plastic surgeon do with the patient (who are needy to remove their eye for some special cause/disease) is,

• The ball or intra ocular implant is made by PMMA (poly methyl methacrylate ) or some time by Silicon-Hydrogel.

• The ball or Intra Ocular Implant is attached with the intra ocular muscle and move inside freely and it helps to move the artificial eye which is generally Ocularist fit over it.  They are removed the eye from the socket or removed the itra-ocular content from the eyeball and after that, they usually put a ball(called Intra Ocular Implant) at the place from where they have removed the eyeball and grafted a skin(called conjunctiva) over the ball.

• The Intraocular Implant is attached with the muscle inside and can move any direction freely, and can also help to move the artificial eye which is fit over it by an Ocularist. 
• In some cases, there have some contraindication to fit an implant inside the socket after remove the eye or in some cases the implant pop-out from the socket after implantation, in that cases, a big volume or hole create in the socket. Now, if we make an artificial eye against this socket, it will be make very big size and will be very heavy also. Then the movement of artificial eye will be restricted, lower eye-lid will be lag due to gravitation, patient's sensation of heaviness will be their. Its totally uncomfortable.

•     For this type of patient we reinvent a prosthesis through a special technique, & you can call it Light-Weight Ocular Prosthesis or hollow prosthesis.

has maked hollow inside,back surface of
the prosthesis till same like previous was.

It is like an egg.

That is why it is unsinkable  and lighter than previous ,
it is able to give comfort to patient and fit like a father into
a large anophthalmic socket.

• First make the normal prosthesis according to patient's socket and in generally the prosthesis will be much more big and heavy than normal one against an large ophthalmic cavity.
• Then we make it lighter by scooping inner materials keep  unchanged the back surface of the prosthesis.
• After inserting this light weight prosthesis inside the socket, patient will get much more comfort, no feeling like heaviness, there will be no lag in the lower eyelid.
• It is moving much better than previous.
• Patient will be happy, definitely.

• Now we are doing this at our clinic in all over India.
